Video Wall Planning Checklist for Builders and Developers
Plan an LED video wall before construction: a practical checklist for Arizona builders and developers covering drawings, trades, infrastructure and handoff.
Bring the video wall into design coordination before the wall, power and finishes are finalized. Agree on the intended use and cabinet configuration, assign each trade's responsibilities, and reserve installation and service access. Use the selected equipment's drawings to complete the plan.
1. Establish the brief
Give the display a clear purpose so the team can make consistent decisions throughout the project.
- Identify the room, viewing positions and nearest viewer.
- List the content: films, sports, digital art, presentations or scheduled signage.
- Identify the decision-maker and the person responsible for daily operation.
- Share project location, construction stage and target completion date.
2. Coordinate drawings and infrastructure
Use the actual equipment configuration for coordination. Manufacturer planning documents distinguish display layout, power, signal routing and architectural review.
- Confirm assembled dimensions, mounting depth and required clearances.
- Have the responsible designer verify structural support and attachment details.
- Coordinate electrical loads, circuit requirements and connection locations with the electrician.
- Review heat output, ventilation, equipment location and cable pathways.
- Keep finishes and trim clear of installation and service access.
3. Assign the scope before ordering
Make the proposal useful to every trade. Record who supplies, installs and signs off each part of the project.
| Scope | Confirm with the project team |
|---|---|
| Display and processing | Approved configuration, sources and operating requirements. |
| Construction and finishes | Wall preparation, mounting coordination and finish restoration. |
| Electrical and network | Responsible trades, drawings, readiness checks and equipment locations. |
| Room integration | Audio, lighting, shades and control programming included in the proposal. |
| Handoff and support | Acceptance process, documentation, training and service contact. |
4. Schedule a readiness review
Arrange a coordination check before delivery. Review the drawing revision, outstanding trade work, delivery route and installation sequence. In an occupied commercial property, agree on working hours, access and how the installation area will be managed. Record decisions and any scope changes before the installation date.
5. Define what a completed project looks like
Agree on a handoff that the homeowner or operator can use.
- Demonstrate the agreed sources and everyday controls.
- Review the image using the intended content and viewing positions.
- Provide equipment information and the agreed system documentation.
- Explain support contacts, warranty terms and how service is arranged.
- Record remaining items with a responsible person and next step.
